Teja Gavankar

Statement

Teja is intrigued by spatial encounters, where a combination of objective reality and subjective perception plays an active role in her practice. Her work is deeply rooted in mathematics and geometry, encompassing the philosophical dimensions of these subjects, which extend into physics, metaphysics, and psychology.

Trained as a painter, Teja primarily works with drawing but also engages in site-specific sculptural projects. Her drawings serve as notations of daily thoughts or extensions of those thoughts, typically confined to the dimensions of A4 paper. These works run parallel to her spatial creations and explore fundamental elements of visual art, such as line, shape, form, and geometric concepts.
