Born in 1977, Rakhi Peswani received her Master of Fine Arts in Sculpture and Bachelor of Fine Arts in Painting from the Faculty of Fine Arts at Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda. She was awarded the Emerging Artist Award by the Foundation for Indian Contemporary Art (FICA) in 2007, presented by Vadehra Art Gallery, New Delhi. In 2006, she was granted the Inlaks Scholarship for the UNIDEE residency at Cittadellarte, Fondazione Pistoletto. Her recent solo exhibitions include Matters Under the Skin at Art HK – Asia One, represented by The Guild in Hong Kong; Intertwinings at Vadehra Art Gallery, New Delhi; and Sonnet for Silent Machines at Jehangir Nicholson Gallery & The Guild, Mumbai.
Peswani has also contributed to numerous group exhibitions, such as Art Stage Singapore 2011 and India Art Summit 2011, both presented by The Guild, Mumbai; Notes on the Disappearance of the Real at Shrine Empire Gallery, New Delhi; Reverie at Chemould Prescott Road, Mumbai; and Bring Me A Lion: An Exhibition of Contemporary Indian Art at The Hunt Gallery in St. Louis, Missouri. Other notable exhibitions include A New Vanguard: Trends in Contemporary Indian Art at Saffronart, New York, and various exhibitions with The Guild in New York and Mumbai.
