Nahid Merchant

Statement

Since her early years, Nahid Merchant has exhibited a profound passion for art, which led her to pursue formal training in fine arts. She earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts from the esteemed Sir J.J. School of Art in Mumbai in 1984. Merchant's debut in the art world began with her participation in the *Monsoon Show* in 1981, and she has since contributed to numerous national and international exhibitions. In addition to her accomplishments in the visual arts, Merchant has achieved recognition as an internationally acclaimed fashion designer.

Merchant's artistic and design practices are closely intertwined. Her keen interest in design manifests across various forms, with a particular focus on fashion.
