Statement

Neeraj Singh Khandka (b. 1983) is a visual artist based in India whose practice explores the intersections of urban experience, memory, and material culture through a distinctive visual language rooted in printmaking and mixed media. He holds an MFA from Visva-Bharati University, Santiniketan (2012) and a BFA from the Government College of Art, Chandigarh (2010). An experienced art educator, Neeraj has qualified UGC-NET and taught as a visiting faculty at the College of Art, Delhi. His layered, surreal urban imagery often reflects his own lived experiences, using metaphors like pigeons, rooftops, and concrete fragments to express the shifting realities of modern city life.

With over a decade of sustained engagement in contemporary art, Neeraj has exhibited extensively in prominent national and international platforms including the CIMA Awards Show, Art Heritage Gallery, Triveni Gallery, Lalit Kala Akademi National Exhibitions, and international print biennales in Tokyo, Bangkok, France, and Argentina. His recent group exhibitions include Go East (curated by Myna Mukherjee, 2025), Ephemerides at APRE Art House (2025), and Resonance of the Singular at Art Heritage (2024). He is a recipient of the Hyundai Art for Hope Artist Grant (2024), Prafulla Dahanukar Foundation Awards, and several distinctions from AIFACS and the Indian Academy of Fine Arts.
