Dhiraj Rabha

Statement

Dhiraj Rabha was born in Borali Gaon, Assam, India, and grew up in an ex-ULFA rehab camp in Goalpara, Assam.  He holds a bachelor's degree in political science (2016), a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Painting (2021), and a Master of Fine Arts in Painting from Kala Bhavana, Visva Bharati University, Santiniketan (2023). Dhiraj Rabha presented in Echoes of Resilience at the Angkor Photo Festival and Workshop, curated by Jessica Lim and Farhana Satu, Siem Reap, Cambodia (2025). In the same year, he participated in Peers Continuum: A Relay of Reciprocity at Khoj Studio, Delhi, parallel to the India Art Fair, and exhibited in The Panorama Beyond the Colour Line at Stir Gallery, India Art Fair, Delhi (2025). He received the prestigious Prince Claus Seed Award (2023-24), Amsterdam, Netherlands, and the Elizabeth Greenshield Grant (2025), Canada. The Generator Cooperative production fund by Experimenter (2023-24). He was also selected for the Khoj Peers Residency (2024) and participated in the Next-Step Residency by Sher-Gil Sundaram Arts Foundation at 1Shantiroad, Bangalore.

His work has been showcased at major exhibitions, including the Bengal Biennale (2024), curated by Siddharth Sivakumar, and the Serendipity Festival (2023), curated by Vidya Sivadas. In 2024, He received the TOTO Photography Award. His previous recognitions include a Production Grant under the Art Practice Program from the India Foundation for the Arts (IFA) in 2022 and a Special Mention in the Alkazi Theatre Archives’ Theatre Photography Grant (2021).
