Aamatullah Lohani is an artist and designer based in Chennai. With a curiosity about what happens to all the waste produced by humans, be it in fashion or just through overconsumption in our day-to-day lives, she has been exploring ways to repurpose textile waste and food packaging plastic waste under her brand, Studio Lohani.
She views her brand as a playground to experiment with material of any kind that is considered “kachra” (waste). Her first feature in the indie culture magazine, ‘Homegrown’, about her graduation project titled ‘Time is Money’, followed by multiple pop-up exhibitions, gave her confidence that there is a space for experimental clothing in the Indian market.
