Sriparna Dutta
Statement
Sriparna Dutta is an accomplished contemporary artist born in 1992 in Kolkata, West Bengal. She works between New Delhi and Kolkata. She holds a Master of Fine Arts (MFA) in Painting from the University of Hyderabad, having completed her Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) from the Government College of Art and Craft, Kolkata. Dutta works with female narratives and is actively involved with the local community. Her mediums include paper, textiles, and soft-stitched sculptural forms.
Her talent has been recognized through prestigious fellowships such as the Space118 Fine Arts Grant and awards including the Birla Award 2024, the JK Paper Award from the Anant Art Foundation, the MAP Indian Artist Relief Fund Scholarship, and the "FIRST TAKE" Award from Abir India. She has also received a National Scholarship from the Ministry of Culture, India.
She has participated in prestigious exhibitions, including India Art Fair 2025 with Birla Academy of Art and Culture and Abir India. Additionally, she has exhibited at India Art Fair Parallel with “Fresh Produce” at Method Art Gallery and “Origin of Story” at Kalakriti Art Gallery (2025). Other notable exhibitions include "Svikriti", the Birla Academy Awardees Show, "Proposition in Paper" at Anant Art Gallery, "Surface 9" at Art Buzz Studio in Jaipur, "Rekindled Spirits" at Bikaner House, and the CIMA Award Show at Gem Cinema, Kolkata (2022). Sriparna has also participated in the 17th Crack International Art Camp in Bangladesh (2023) and the EDII Art Residency at Apre Art House in Mumbai (2023). Passionate about site-specific workshops and installations, Sriparna continually explores diverse themes in her art, encompassing womanism, landscapes, and societal perspectives. Her unique approach has left a profound impact on viewers, garnering admiration for her creative vision and expressive works. Beyond her artistic endeavors, Sriparna actively engages in art camps and workshops, constantly seeking inspiration and growth.
Recently, she was a part of the Dotwalk Ajitara Art Residency.
