Debosmita Samanta was born and brought up in West Bengal. She completed her B.V.A (Painting) from the College of Art and Design, Burdwan University in 2010, and her M.F.A (Painting) from S.N. School of Arts and Communication, Hyderabad University in 2012. She participated in NiFest9, an Art camp in Kerala, curated by Sujith SN in 2024. Her debut solo ‘Bariwali’ was held at Method, Kala Ghoda, Mumbai, 2024. She was a program coordinator for ‘Art Souk’- One day Art Fair, Golden Threshold- the University of Hyderabad in 2020. One of her articles on heirlooms and collectables, Goynar Baksho: The Jewellery Box, was published on the Museum of Material Memory website in 2020. Debosmita was a Residency artist at Kalakriti Art gallery, Hyderabad in 2019. She received the Merit Award from the 1st National Exhibition of Art, Karnataka Lalithakala Academy in 2017.
She lives and works in Hyderabad, Telangana.
