Anup is a visual artist from Mallarpur Mofswal in Birbhum district, West Bengal. He holds a Postgraduate degree in Fine Arts (Printmaking) from Kala Bhavana, Visva Bharati University, Santiniketan. Growing up across both rural and urban environments, Anup's practice is deeply informed by his lived experiences within local communities in West Bengal.
His recent body of work revolves around the concept of the “queer landscape,” a term he has developed to explore the intersections of identity, social structures, and cultural dynamics. In this context, “landscape” extends beyond the physical to encompass socio-emotional, political, and cultural terrains—reflecting how different layers of society shape and are shaped by queer presence and perception. His practice integrates daily life, community engagement, and observation, using art as a medium to foster cognitive and pedagogical exchange through aesthetics and lived experience.
