CURATORIAL
FELLOWSHIP

The fellowship is intended for emerging curators committed to developing thoughtful, rigorous and publicly relevant curatorial practices.

Applicants should:

• Hold a Master’s degree in art, design, architecture, art history, anthropology or a related field
• Demonstrate a sustained engagement with research, critical theory or cultural history
• Present a clearly articulated curatorial enquiry
• Show the ability to develop an exhibition through research, dialogue and collaboration

One of the two fellowships is reserved for a current Master’s student or a collective whose members are currently pursuing Master’s degrees in one of the listed or related fields.

Applications are welcomed from individuals and eligible collectives representing varied academic, cultural and professional backgrounds.

Each selected fellow will receive:

Six months of mentorship

Sustained, project-specific guidance from a distinguished international panel of curators and cultural practitioners.

Fellowship grant

A fellowship grant of ₹50,000.

Exhibition production budget

A production budget of ₹1,50,000 for the development and presentation of the exhibition.

Dedicated exhibition space

A 2000–3000 sq. ft. exhibition space in Delhi for the completed project.

Installation support

Flight tickets and accommodation for three nights during the installation and opening of the exhibition.

Public presentation

The fellowship will culminate in a public exhibition in Delhi in June 2027.

The production parameters for each exhibition will be discussed and finalised with the selected fellow during the development of the project. Each proposal must be realised within the allocated space, production budget and programme timeline.

Over six months, each fellow will refine their curatorial framework through research and critical enquiry, work with artists, communities and collaborators, and develop the exhibition design, scenography and visitor experience within the allocated space and budget.

The complete exhibition proposal, including the curatorial note and exhibition design for a 2000–3000 sq. ft. space, will be submitted in April 2027. The completed exhibition will be presented in Delhi in June 2027, followed by a reflective report of up to 1,000 words in July 2027 documenting the project’s process, outcomes, impact and challenges.

Applications must include all four components listed below.

1. Curriculum vitae

A current CV outlining:

• Education
• Curatorial experience
• Research interests
• Relevant academic and professional engagements

2. Letter of intent

The letter should outline:

• Your curatorial vision
• The proposed exhibition concept
• The central enquiry or context informing the project
• The relevance of the proposed project
• Your interest in the Gallerie Splash Curatorial Fellowship

3. Portfolio and writing samples

A portfolio presenting previous curatorial projects, accompanied by relevant writing samples such as:

• Curatorial notes
• Exhibition texts
• Essays
• Articles
• Research papers

4. Two letters of recommendation

Two letters from individuals familiar with your academic, curatorial or professional practice.

All four components must be included for the application to be considered complete.

Applications will be reviewed according to the following criteria:

• Clarity, coherence and originality of the curatorial vision
• Relevance to the applicant’s area of enquiry and contemporary cultural discourse
• Depth of research and critical engagement
• Ability to work with artists, communities and collaborators
• Contribution to diversity and inclusivity within the cultural landscape
• Consideration of exhibition design and public experience
• Innovation and feasibility of the proposed exhibition
• Ability to develop the project within the available time, space and budget

A strong proposal should demonstrate a clear relationship between its central enquiry, participating artists, exhibition format and intended public experience.
