Soumen Das, an Indian contemporary artist, lives and works from Baroda. Mid career artist works on nature and yet affordably priced.

My artistic process unfolds in layers, starting with pastel scribbles forming geometric patterns. These initial sketches undergo a transformation through varied brushwork using opaque and transparent colors, incorporating diverse marks and linear details. This process continues until the artwork reaches a point that resonates with my vision.

Typically, I engage with multiple paintings simultaneously. They evolve gradually, with me moving back and forth between them. Some pieces take precedence, while others wait for further exploration. Throughout this journey, my fascination with the structured linearity of urban landscapes and the play of transparency and luminosity permeates the artworks.

In a few of these paintings, impressions from two distinct places—Manali and the surroundings of Prag Mahal in Bhuj—seep into the creative process, adding layers of influence and inspiration.
