It is an affinity of K. Laxma Goud’s lines that delves into the intimate, through which spheres of social experience are explored. Here the Master’s hymns come crowding- the mystic garden and the middling beast, the garden of paradise. Master printmaker is eloquent with his lines, extremely erudite and witty in his narration that delves into the deepest, often unseen recess of the hidden mind. These spheres of life are linked through an ‘in –between’ temporality that takes the measure of dwelling, while producing an image of the environment we live in. This is the moment of aesthetic distance that provides the narrative a double edge, his work is also a learning curve for next generation of artists. These are his infernal walls. Laxma’s drawings do not detract too much from the social satire. The staging of the otherness and alteration that constitutes in the Master’s intaglios and drawings on paper, for us serve the essential aspects of a fictional universe- and asks who we are and what we are capable of. His art speaks from the depths of the soul and reaches out to us to a world of infinitely rich theatre of the soul that weave and re- weave a potent spell for all of who dare to share in the drama. An entire process through which he tears up the conventions, ways of seeing and saying. The exhibition here at Gallerie Splash contributes to a redefinition of realism, abstraction and cultural representation. With enormous grace he pushes us deeper into these difficult territories and purifies us in the process through linked images steeped in magic realism. The occasional touch of surrealism is not beyond his grasp. These tears up the spectator, who finds himself or herself torn between received ides/ feelings that dismembered by printmaker’s plate. If the wit, attire and deduction aren’t enough, the Master’s sardonic charm captivates all. He blends the erotic with emotional generosity, images that vacillate between despair and optimism.Show less
