Curatorial Fellowship 2025

Gallerie Splash is pleased to announce an open call for applications for the 2025 Curatorial Fellowship. This fellowship is designed to provide 3 emerging curators with a unique opportunity to contribute to the cultural landscape by curating an exhibition or a program.

Objective

The primary objective of this Curatorial Fellowship is to support emerging curators in developing and realizing their theoretical and conceptual frameworks into physical exhibitions or programs. This fellowship aims to foster a diverse and inclusive curatorial practice that engages with Modern and Contemporary Art, Design Histories and Ideas, Living Traditions of India.

 

Eligibility

The fellowship is open to young curators who have completed their academic studies in art, design, architecture, anthropology, or a related field. Applicants should have a demonstrated interest in research towards critical theory and history and a strong curatorial vision. We encourage applications from individuals of all backgrounds and welcome proposals that engage with underrepresented voices and perspectives.

The following are the eligibility requirements:- 

  1. Must have successfully curated 2-3 exhibitions

  2. Must have completed a master’s in Art, Design, Architecture, History, Anthropology, etc, 

Please note that 1 fellowship will be awarded to an individual or a collective who is currently pursuing their master’s degrees. 

 

Application Process

Fellowship Details:-

- Duration: 6 months of Mentorship

- Fellowship Fee: INR 50,000/- to each curator. 

- Exhibition Budget: A production budget of INR 1,50,000 and exhibition space will be provided for the developed project to be showcased in Delhi in June-July 2025. The production boundaries will be discussed with the Fellows at a later stage.

- Flight tickets and accommodation for 3 nights will be provided for the setup of the exhibition or program in Delhi. 

 

Application Process:-

Interested candidates should submit the following materials:

1. Curriculum Vitae (CV)

2. Letter of Intent: A statement outlining your curatorial vision, proposed exhibition or program concept, and why you are interested in this fellowship.

3. Portfolio: Previous curatorial projects (if any), and writing samples (articles or research papers)

4. Two Letters of Recommendation.

 

Section Criteria

Applications will be reviewed based on the following criteria:

- Clarity and coherence of the curatorial vision

- Relevance to the discourse of their particular area.

- Demonstrated ability to work with artists and/or other collaborators

- Potential for contributing to the diversity and inclusivity of the cultural landscape

- Feasibility and innovation of the proposed exhibition or program

 

Deliverables

-The Fellows must submit a developed exhibition proposal (including the exhibition design/scenography, curatorial note, etc.) in May 2025 for the exhibition, which will be hosted in an 800-1200 sqft venue and ensure to work within the provided space and budget.

-The Fellows will be expected to produce a final report on the project up to 1000 words), documenting the exhibition's development, impact, and challenges by the end of July 2025.
