Statement

Born in 1956 in Alappuzha, Kerala, Madhusudhanan studied painting at Fine Arts College,
Thiruvananthapuram and print-making at the Faculty of Fine Arts, MS University of
Baroda, Gujarat. His practice includes multiple mediums in art and cinema. Marxism,
cinema and Buddhist philosophy have greatly influenced his art. He often brings in
elements of art history in his presentation of certain forms. His fascination with India’s
film history has led to a series of works on the subject too. Deeply concerned with war
and man made conflicts, itis the combination ofthe personal and the politicalthatform
the basis of Madhusudhanan’s oeuvre
.
He is also an award winning film maker, well known for his unique style.
