ABOUT THE FELLOWSHIP

The Gallerie Splash Curatorial Fellowship enables emerging curators to transform a distinct, research-led line of enquiry into a rigorous public exhibition in Delhi.

Over six months, selected fellows receive sustained, project-specific guidance from a distinguished panel of curators and cultural practitioners working across institutional, independent and interdisciplinary contexts. The mentorship supports every stage of the project, from research, conceptual development and curatorial writing to artist engagement, exhibition design, scenography, visitor experience, production planning and public presentation.

The fellowship welcomes proposals across modern and contemporary art, design histories and ideas, the living traditions of India, and interdisciplinary cultural practice. Applications from varied backgrounds and perspectives are encouraged, particularly projects that expand cultural discourse by foregrounding underrepresented histories, communities and forms of knowledge.

WHO CAN APPLY

The fellowship is intended for emerging curators committed to developing thoughtful, relevant and inclusive curatorial practices.

Applicants should:

• Hold a Master’s degree in art, design, architecture, art history, anthropology or a related field

• Have successfully curated two or three exhibitions

• Demonstrate a sustained interest in research, critical theory or cultural history

• Present a clearly articulated curatorial enquiry and the ability to develop it through research and collaboration

One of the three fellowships is reserved for a current Master’s student or a collective whose members are currently pursuing Master’s degrees in one of the listed or related fields.

WHAT THE FELLOWSHIP PROVIDES

Each selected fellow will receive:

• Six months of mentorship from a distinguished panel of curators and cultural practitioners.

• A fellowship grant of ₹50,000.

• Exhibition Budget of ₹1,50,000, and exhibition space will be provided for the developed project to be showcased in Delhi in June 2027.

• Flight tickets and accommodation for three nights during the installation and opening of the exhibition.

• The production parameters will be discussed and finalised with each fellow during the development of the project.

• The fellowship will culminate in a public exhibition in Delhi in June 2027.
  
  

WHAT TO SUBMIT

Applications must include the following:

1. Curriculum vitae outlining your education, curatorial experience, research interests and relevant professional engagements.

2. Letter of intent outlining:

• Your curatorial vision

• The proposed exhibition concept

• The central enquiry or context informing the project

• Your interest in the Gallerie Splash Curatorial Fellowship

3. Portfolio and writing samples

A portfolio presenting previous curatorial projects, accompanied by relevant writing samples such as articles, essays or research papers.

4. Two letters of recommendation

Two letters from individuals familiar with your academic, curatorial or professional practice.

All four components must be included for the application to be considered complete.

HOW PROPOSALS WILL BE ASSESSED

Applications will be reviewed according to the following criteria:

• Clarity, coherence and originality of the curatorial vision

• Relevance to the applicant’s area of enquiry and contemporary cultural discourse

• Depth of research and critical engagement

• Ability to work with artists, communities and collaborators

• Contribution to diversity and inclusivity within the cultural landscape

• Innovation and feasibility of the proposed exhibition

• Ability to develop the project within the available time, space and budget
